Intelligent optimization of lubricant mixtures
Problem
Our client, a lubricant manufacturer, required the production of each type of lubricant to mix multiple components in different proportions, generating different costs per gallon for the same final product. Before our intervention, this blend calculation and selection process was performed manually in Excel spreadsheets, which was time-consuming, error-prone, and impeded the rapid evaluation of all possible combinations to find the most economical option. This slowness hampered rapid decision-making and limited cost optimization.
